Pat O’Callaghan Revised Idea

After some reflection on the feedback both from in class and from the comments here on the blog, I have decided to start to look into Lego AR a little more in depth. Lego has made use of AR in a couple of different ways already. In some Lego stores they have a terminal that you can hold out the box flat and it would scan it to show an AR preview on a screen in front of you so you can get a 3D look at the finished product. In addition I found a video where ARkit2 was used in combination with Lego to create digital play over a physical space. Link:

With this information I think a good starting point would be to look into ARKit and start to learn the basics and how to use it in a similar way for my own project. I think that one way I could make this a little more unique would be if I could implement some kind of online feature, or a way for people to put down a minifigure and essentially do drop-in/ drop-out play with multiple people within the same space. With what I aim to accomplish I think the main objective towards getting this working would be to learn ARKit or another program similar to it, and from there design a set that provides a wide range of playabillity/ features for multiple people to interact with and experience. At the current moment though Learning the software side is the more pressing matter.
