A New AR RTS Concept
The initial proposal was for an AR RTS mobile game where two or more players would control a digital army and battle for dominion over real life locations. However, considering the time-frame, this would be too complex to get it working by the due date. So, I have decided to change and update the concept with something much more simplistic, as well as bring an old concept from a different class to life.
Elemental Chance
This ARRTS game, currently titled “Elemental Chance,” will integrate the real world as it’s battle ground. Much like the successful Pokemon GO, players will battle using elemental attacks in real time. Unlike PKGO, however, battle won’t take place in a virtual battleground. Using your phone’s camera and GPS, the characters will fight right in front of you.
Characters and Elements
Before the game starts, the player will choose which of six characters.

Each character possesses one of six elements: Fire, Ice, Nature, Lightning, Death, and Wind. Each element has three stats: STRONG, NEUTRAL, and WEAK. If an element is STRONG against another, the player takes half damage. If an element is NEUTRAL against another, the player takes normal damage. If an element is WEAK against another, the player takes double damage.

This chart shows how each element coordinates with each other. Obviously, some elements are more balanced than others. There will be a system in place that makes sure that one elements doesn’t overpower the others. For example, Fire and Ice are pretty balanced, so they’ll have standard attacks and health and magic stats. Nature, however, is pretty weak, so Nature would have more health and have attacks that use less magic. Lightning is completely neutral, so while it’s not at risk of taking a lot of damage, it can’t deal more damage, so Lightning will have more damaging attacks with standard magic.
Gameplay and Battle System
As stated before, characters will be projected into the real world via camera and GPS. Attacks, however, would be like that of a card game. Before the game starts, or in the midst of battle, you can choose up to six attacks to use. But it doesn’t go simply as picking an attack. This is where the “chance” comes in. Each attack, 1-6, is allocated to a dice roll. You’ll roll the die on the battle screen.
