Walter B. – Spring Thesis Update

I am making decent progress on my project. As of the start of the Spring semester, I’ve modeled the head of my robot character, which resembles an iPhone.

I’m using Maya for the 3D modeling and animation of my project because my familiarity with the program will allow me to work more effectively. I am currently beginning work on modeling the body of the robot before I begin work on the legs.

My goal for next week is to have a completed model of my robot character, BZ-9E, so I could begin rigging the model. The sooner I am able to begin animating, the more time I will have to make adjustments and smooth out the character’s movements.

I have also begun to look into sound design for my robot character by editing my voice in Adobe Audition. For next week, I will continue to explore sound design for my robot character along with completing the 3D model.

From my experience working on this project so far, I have learned that I need to improve upon my time management. I plan on reserving blocks of time when I am able to work on the project without any distractions. So far, I have been working on my project whenever I felt like it without a set timetable. Organizing a production schedule will allow me to manage the workload more efficiently and make better progress on the project. Stay tuned.
