Jordan’s Spring Thesis Update

I’ve worked on a few character animations and my concept art, and have finished my background art for the game that can be plugged in once I have a working build.

I looked more at the system I need to implement into the code base that will make up the skeleton of the game, and have worked on a basic HUD and UI concept that will eventually find their way into my project.

But … to be honest, the amount of progress I made over the Winter Break was lacking. I need to buckle down and focus on the one thing that’s holding the project in a prototype state.

My plan is to start putting the pieces together instead of trying to gather all of the core components first.

What I had going into break was a hastily put together mess that just so happened to look functional. Now I will move past that.

My immediate goal, as of now, is to work on actually having a working project instead of these individual pieces which while good, doesn’t itself make a project as a whole.

As of now I can see these as the main things that need to be done as soon as possible to make me feel as if I’m more on track to having what I would consider a finished product:

A: The 4-way movement code and implementation of my current work into Unity.

B: A simple AI so that the player has a basic enemy to interact with as well as see how combat functions on a basic level.

Once these things are completed, and I am working on them even as I type this out, I’ll feel more comfortable with where I am. However, as it stands, I feel frustrated that I’m not further along because I keep wanting to make sure everything is perfect before I even take anymore steps forward.
