-Alexix Public Thesis Update: Start of Spring Semester

While I have been feeling a bit overwhelmed, reviewing an article I had to read for another IMM course helped me pinpoint exactly where I am in terms of my senior thesis project and where to go with the help of professors. I made a plan that would allow me to use the courses I am taking now to work on my senior project. The character animation course is going to help me finalize the character design and modeling process. I have recently been introduced to Mudbox. Between using Maya as my main design program for base modeling and bring models into Mudbox to tackle additional details, painting, and bring it back into Maya for Animation.

While I primarily will be using brackets to code. One roadblock that I have been heavily researching is the best way to export an animated model, import it into a website, and code the animation to work with the website via javascript/three.js. While viewing various youtube videos and W3schools. A possible solution for this to assist me with my workflow would be using webflow. A web design platform that has code already built that I can modify as needed for this project I discovered something called timed motion through web-flow interactions. I also have means of testing all of my code using Codepen.

I have been viewing and studying numerous youtube videos and will be reaching out to professionals to provide feedback on additional pieces involving digital painting and web design. For my interactive storytelling course, I found two stories created in twine. After writing what I liked about them I discovered I would like to incorporate two elements for my senior thesis a loading screen, an inviting home screen, and a logo through the use of code I have been previously introduced to.

  1. Hi Alexix! It sounds like you have a good plan for time management and maximizing productivity in your other classes. I’m really excited to watch your project come to fruition. Good Luck!

  2. I’ve taken a liking to your concept and I believe it shows serious promise! I’m very interested in seeing how it turns out.

  3. I think your thesis may be the one I’m most excited for. Your concept is very strong and you have a great skillset, and I just know it’ll turn out amazing! I’ve actually never thought about juggling a model between Mudbox and Maya before, is this a common practice? It sounds great since the two have their different abilities and strengths, and I’m interested to see how this goes!
