An honest thesis update

I have switched my thesis idea since my last post. I’m now doing a documentary on virtual choirs/performances. So, in terms of work that I have done specifically for this class? I got nothing. However, since I have been making virtual performances since the start of quarantine, I do have a solid foundation. As of earlier today, I have officially completed 13 virtual performances (Tune in to the music department livestream on December 5th from 7-9pm to see 7 of the videos I made!). I starting vlogging when I was making these videos and a took a few timelapses of me working. This will be used in the documentary. I can’t start on the actual virtual choir that will be featured in my thesis yet because I have not picked a piece yet nor have I taught the music to anyone. This project will be in collaboration with Music, and I will conduct this piece for TCNJ’s Chorale, an ensemble I have been a part of since Fall semester of my freshman year. Over winter break I will research choral music and decide on a piece.

  1. Honestly, despite switching to a different focus entirely for your thesis, I think you’re in a pretty good spot! You seem to have a clear idea of what you want to do and even mentioned yourself that you have a solid foundation for it. This idea also incorporates a bunch of different fields that you enjoy and/or have experience in. I haven’t talked about it with you too much so I’m not sure how much worry the switch itself has caused you, but in any case I think you’ll be just fine.
