For my second prototype, I created a storyboard for the main sequence in the film, where BZ-9E awakens for the first time. This sequence was necessary to storyboard because of how complex it is. It involves my CGI robot character trying to escape from a cereal spill. These storyboards will serve as a crucial guide when filming this sequence as well as when animating the character. From this feedback session, I hoped to learn if my storyboards were simple enough to follow or if the shot choices best represented what is happening in the scene. When discussing this sequence, Prof. Ault suggested that the cereal that cereal that BZ is looking at is “Life” cereal. Another suggestion was that the robot should be tethered to the wall by its cable and struggle to move because of it. I plan to incorporate these suggestions into the script. Another area of discussion involved compositing the character into the footage. I received great advice on how to plan for shots involving the CGI character. It is very important that I setup cameras in Maya that match the live action shots. This will make it so that the camera angles match when compositing BZ-9E into the live action footage.
