Lee Prototype #2 Update

For this week’s prototype, I began exploring Twine to try and understand how to use it. This is what I have so far: https://twinery.org/2/#!/stories/4d4a0300-9d2b-479a-ae3f-67843d8f3b80/play

My story format is in SugarCube, which supports users who know HTML and CSS. I still have to adjust to the documentation of SugarCube and Twine in general. I haven’t had much experience in JavaScript before so this project will definitely give me a chance to use that.

When Ault said that we were avoiding talking about the big technical challenges of our projects, I had talked about trying to understand how I would go about randomly generating the users. Nina had told me I could use an array in Javascript and then I could do random combos of likes and dislikes too.

I believe the next steps for the 3rd prototype is to get the code down first so that way I can focus on the visual parts of the game during winter break. Once I have more of the functionality of the game down, hopefully things will run smoother!

I also need to think about how I want users to play the game; do I want to try and tackle the redacted idea from last week? Maybe, I’m still trying to think about the kind of user experience I want to achieve through this game. I also feel like I need to conduct a brief survey asking people what they know about AI and how AI acts in social media. Understanding this knowledge will better inform me about how much the public understands about AI.

I have to remember that AI represents this all-powerful system that mimics human behavior, but is a supercomputer that is built to be smarter and faster than us; the only way to regulate the supercomputer is to present privacy settings and try to use those to inform people that that’s a way they can have some control of their information.
