Research Update 2: Reconsiderations

This previous week was focused on the more technical aspects as I had mentioned in my research plan. I also wanted to use the beginning of this week to cover the basics of cyberpunk as I did not have the time to do that the previous week during phase one of my research. Previously, before the one on one meeting with the Professor I had intended to 3D model and texture in blender and animate using Unity. Professor Ault has since corrected this scope and I will be acting on his suggestion of sticking with an animatic instead of a fully animated sequence. To follow up on this change in the project, instead of looking more into the technical aspect and production process in Blender and Unity, I looked more into what an animatic is exactly, and the lighting, camera work, and musical composition of the genre/subgenre Film Noir.

I looked into these three topics because I will be incorporating them within the animatic drawings which is step 4 of the actual film preproduction process. Also this week, I have begun the planning stage of what I will actually be drawing as this has turned from a 3D project into a 2D project focused in Adobe Premiere and Adobe Aftereffects using my own drawings. If I have the time, it might evolve into a motion comic, but I have to consider the story I’m trying to tell, the things I’m trying to bring to light in our own reality, and all of the other technical aspects like the music.
