Revised concept

So from all the feedback that I have received and after running the idea past my friends I can confidently and excitedly say that I am going ahead with the 3rd idea. So far everyone that I have talked to about the volleyball idea was super excited to do it and in turn it made me very excited as well. So I have been thinking up ways to make this happen.

Whats happening now- Right now I am researching the different source material that I can use to make as inspiration for this film. I looked at the comments and there was one video that was really helpful to me and that was by corridor, funny enough I actually used to watch them a lot years ago. I’m still using Haikyu! as my main source of inspiration as the show just has to many. But I also found these other videos that I though were very cool and helpful in terms of camera angles and how to film a game, when to film reactions, when to highlight big plays etc.

In addition I am making a story board as well. Some things that I have been thinking about is what I am making the project with. On my PC I have all the necessary programs that I need to make this think. What I do need is more ram so that I am able to use programs like after effects. I am also thinking about what type of film this is going to be. Right now all I have is my Iphone, which honestly is not that bad because it one of the newer models so the camera is pretty good. I need more storage space for sure. I think if I were to go for a type of time piece, using an iphone would not be bad. Though I am considering getting a real camera before the next semester, it depends though on what I am able to come up with and the price. Also have to consider the time of my friends and the place we will be filming in being that the next semester is going to cold. We are looking into finding an indoor court so depending on how that goes will determine what happens as well.

As I have been thinking I think that this could also be a great opportunity to include some of my other skills as well. Those being in Maya, After Effects or clip studio paint. I was thinking that I could 3D model a court in maya and then use that or some combination of programs, animate in clip studio, to get some really dynamic camera angles that I normally couldn’t. Stuff I would need a drone for or something.

So yeah, that is where I stand right now with this fun idea. Everyone that I have talked to is one board. I need to come up with a storyboard. I need more ram. I need more storage on my phone. We (the volleyball crew) need to figure out what we are going to do come winter time. I think using 2d and 3d elements to achieve dynamic shots would be good and interesting. I have a few shots in my head that I am trying to make work, like an overhead shot of the court with the words game 1 on the screen and that could spiral in and switch from 2d/3d to IRL. A POV shot where we see the perspective of the player receiving a serve etc. I also, think this will work best as a time piece.
